February in Vancouver isn’t just about Valentine’s Day. It’s also the final stretch of our city’s beloved Hot Chocolate Festival! If you’re heading out for one last cup, why not turn it into a full plan?

Instead of just grabbing a drink and heading home, we’ve paired some of Vancouver’s most creative workshops with participating cafés nearby. Think: hot chocolate → short walk/drive → hands-on experience.

Here are four café + creative workshop pairings to help you fill your weekend in Metro Vancouver:

1. Purebread + Flowerhouse Studios (Mount Pleasant)

Purebread’s “Nuts For You” hot chocolate is indulgent and dessert-forward. A peanut butter based drink, it's topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. It’s the kind of cup you want to hold onto while walking through Mount Pleasant.

Just a 3-minute walk away at La Fabrique St-George Winery, Flowerhouse Studios is hosting a special Valentine’s floral workshop. This guided session walks you through building your own lush arrangement, focusing on balance, texture, and shape. You’ll work with seasonal blooms and leave with something you actually want to display at home.

It’s tactile, calming, and surprisingly grounding to work with fresh flowers. And with a cup of delicious hot chocolate in hand? Couldn't ask for a better Valentine's day.

2. Broye Café + Art From The Heart (Downtown Vancouver)

Broye Café’s “Saigon After Dark” hot chocolate is layered and bold. Topped with whipped cream, orange, star anise, and cinnamon sticks, it’s rich with warm spice and citrus depth. It feels dramatic in the best way, and is an ode to one of our favourite winter dishes, Pho.

A 3-minute walk away, Art From The Heart is running guided paint nights downtown. Their sessions are beginner-friendly and fully equipped with canvas, paints, brushes, step-by-step instruction, so you can relax into the process without overthinking it.

You leave with a finished piece and that quiet “I can’t believe I made that” feeling.

3. Mercato di Luigi + Atelier 758 (Chinatown + Clark)

Mercato di Luigi has two exciting hot chocolate flavours still available to try: a pistachio-filled one and a hazelnut + strawberries combo. Both are indulgent and very romantic, and honestly feel like dessert in a cup.

They’re also a great treat to bring to Atelier 758 for a textured painting session, just a short 4-minute drive up the street.

This hands-on workshop focuses on dimension and layering, creating minimalist art pieces that feel gallery-ready. It’s an awesome experience and very tactile. We had plenty of fun playing with the gypsum when we went. There’s something really satisfying about building texture and watching the surface evolve.

And if you're looking for something a little more within walking distance, Uprising Breads Bakery also has a white key lime flavoured hot chocolate, about a 12-minute walk from Atelier (we just couldn’t find a photo of theirs!).

4. Hanoi Drip + Banana Art Lab (Richmond)

Hanoi Drip’s “Ube Everything” hot chocolate is bold and playful: a purple, creamy, and topped with ube and coconut textures that make it feel extra special. It’s one of those drinks that does a good job of showcasing the different cultures that make up Vancouver.

And just a 4-minute drive away, Banana Art Lab offers drop-in sessions for tufting, decoden phone case decorating, and most recently, silver ring making. It’s colorful, expressive, and slightly chaotic in the best way.

With options to wield a tufting gun, glue charms in an almost cake decorating way, and create your own ring, it's all very hands-on and very satisfying.
